Weather in Chile
The vast canvas of Chile lends itself to a lot of variation in climate and the weather here ranges from the positively balmy to chilly alpine. With an area spanning 38 degrees of latitude, Chile is both large and different. The Köppen system attributes as many as 7 key climatic subcategories to Chile - deserts to the north, glaciers and alpine tundra to the south east and east, sub tropical climes on Easter Island, oceanic to the south, plus Mediterranean style climate in the centre.
Chile sees all four seasons with summer lasting December through to February, autumn arriving in March and lasting until May, winter holding strong between June and August and a delightful springtime between September and November.
